Darkness Vampires: This brand of vampire follows a lot of traditional vampirism rules. They're burned by sunlight and fire; they have an aversion to holy symbols, but only when wielded by people who truly believe in them; they're stronger than humaan, faster. They stop aging (or, really, changing) at the time that they're turned.
Turning is done by first being drained by a vampire, and then drinking of that same vampire's blood.
They need to consume blood via biting in order to keep their systems going. Between feedings, their temperature drops to that of the area around them, and they get quite pale; immediately after eating, however, they can be rosy cheeked and warm and seem much more human.
They have a pulse but it's very weak. They can breathe, but they don't have to -- not much. Not unless they want to speak.
Individual vampires will also have minor to major abilities similar to those of psychics. In other words, they'll have a specialty. This might mean the ability to control people, hypnotize; it might mean changing their shape; it might mean the ability to go invisible. It's different for every vampire, but they all have something.
Drugs and alcohol work on them, but faintly. They can't eat or drink -- or, well, they can, but it doesn't stay down. Whatever they consume will be rejected right back up after a few hours. If they want to get wasted, the best way to do it is to drink from someone wasted.
